THE MINUTE I SAW YOU~ PAIGE TOON

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB: When Hannah meets Sonny, she's irresistibly drawn to him: he's sexy and confident, but only in town on holiday. That's fine with Hannah - she doesn't do long-term relationships. And luckily for her, neither does Sonny. But before they can even so much as kiss, Sonny receives some shocking news and commits to making serious life changes - ones that can't and won't include romance.
With even a short fling now off the cards, Hannah and Sonny settle for being friends. But as summer hots up and their chemistry shows no signs of cooling, they start to question their reasons for shutting each other out.
Are they both too broken to find love? And if they tear down the walls between them, will they still like what's on the other side?
I visited Cambridge a few years ago when we were just a family of three, it was a perfect little summer trip. Beautiful, sunny days spent punting down the river Cam and visiting some of the magnificent old colleges. Reading a book based in the very same city not only made me think of my short stay there but evoked the same feelings of happiness and contentment.⠀ This was my first Paige Toon book so I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was the blurb had me intrigued. ⠀ This is the story of Hannah and Sonny who have an instant attraction to each other but for reasons too spoilery to share, they end up being friends instead.⠀ Reading this friends to lovers story was lovely. Seeing how these characters slowly opened up about their past was beautiful, we get to find out why Hannah doesn't do long term rel
ationships and why Sonny is so averse to commitment. The fact that they both knew they had issues and were willing to open up about them showed how much they wanted to be together, making yourself that vulnerable is not easy. Seeing them come to terms with their past and finally being able to put it to rest, was really great.⠀ This is a slow burn romance with so much sexual tension between the characters! It made the anticipation of their eventual acceptance of the relationship that much more exciting.⠀ Though the writing style perfectly lends itself to be read in one sitting (on a lazy summer day) with lots of lighthearted moments, and easy banter between characters, be prepared as it does cover some tough topics. Which I thought the author handled really well, and really gave us an insight into our characters thoughts and behaviour.⠀ By turns this is funny, poignant, sexy, but ultimately it is a moving and uplifting romance. Now that Paige Toon is on my radar I can't wait to check out her backlist!⠀ Highly recommend to those who love their romance with a lot of depth.⠀  ⠀  TW: sexual abuse, suicide, addiction and trauma from a death of a loved one.⠀ *thank you to @kaleidoscopictours, @simonshusteruk and @paigetoonauthor my gifted copy in exchange for an honest opinion.⠀
