BLURB: Charlotte Bishop is out of options in New York City. Fired, broke, and blacklisted by her former boss, she’s forced to return to her hometown of Hope Lake, PA to lick her wounds. Although she’s expecting to find a miserable place with nothing to do, she is pleasantly surprised to discover it is bustling and thriving.
She’s only supposed to be in Hope Lake temporarily until she can earn enough money to move back to New York. She’s not supposed to reconnect with her childhood friends or her beloved grandmother. She’s not supposed to find her dream job running the local florist shop. And she’s definitely not supposed to fall for not one but two of Hope Lake’s golden boys: one the beloved high school English teacher, the other the charming town doctor. With a heart torn between two men and two cities, what’s a girl to do?

This is book two in the hopeless romantics series, we follow Charlotte who left Hope Town with her mother, when she was 10 years old to leave in New York. In the years away she slowly forgets her friends (Emma from book 1, and Henry) it does not help that in the intervening years her mother fills her head with negative ideas about the small town and its people and tries hard to get Charlotte to leave the memories behind. We join Charlotte as she returns to Hope Town some 21 years later due to her old boss (unjustly but hilariously none the less!) blaming her of an unfortunate incident! But first let me say I am sucker for a good prologue; the best are the ones that give you just enough to get you curious, intrigued, even invested. This book had that. I also love a good second chance romance and this kind of had that feel, but only really because the characters knew each other when they were young. I was a bit hesitant going in thinking there was a love triangle, and I am not keen on those at all. But I needn't have worried, Nina Bocci writes down to earth, realistic characters that are not dramatic for the sake of it. So yes there may be interest from more than one quarter but it is dealt in a common sense manner, like mature adults. The storyline was interesting, it felt like you were reading a slice of someone's life, nothing too dramatic, just small town living, with a slow burn romance.
I loved so many of the characters; Gigi, Charlotte's Grandmother being one of them. There was one conversation that takes place between her and Charlotte, that starts of funny and then becomes really sweet and poignant. It really summed up their relationship. It was a lovely moment. It was also great seeing Emma and Cooper again, while having new characters introduced, I hope Nick gets his own book soon, I want to know more about him!
Overall this was a quick, easy read, slow paced with a slow burn romance, with little angst, the biggest dilemma was Charlotte deciding whether or not she would stay in Hope Town for the long haul. Sometimes I need a nice easy read where I know I will be entertained and not put through the ringer with my emotions! This was perfect for that. Would definitely recommend!
